About

Putting is not a hand movement. It is a body movement.

The ArkRoll method is built around a simple principle: reduce the influence of the hands and allow the larger, more stable structures of the body to control the putting stroke.

The concept originates from the pioneering work of BioMech, whose engineering philosophy was to design the putter around the natural geometry of the human body. ArkRoll retains that foundation and develops it further through our own head geometry, length options and mass distribution.

From the Body Out

Engineered by BioMech. Evolved by ArkRoll.

Taking the Hands Out of the Stroke

The hands are extraordinarily sensitive and mobile structures. They contain a very high concentration of sensory receptors, allowing us to detect tiny changes in pressure, movement and position.

That sensitivity is invaluable in everyday life.

In putting, however, it can also encourage unconscious manipulation.

The hands and wrists can introduce tiny changes in:

  • face rotation

  • face angle

  • shaft orientation

  • acceleration

  • timing

  • impact conditions

A putter face does not need to move very far to change the starting direction of the ball.

The objective of the ArkRoll method is therefore to reduce the hands’ role as the source of movement.

The hands remain connected to the putter, but rather than actively manipulating the face, the golfer is encouraged to allow the core, shoulders and larger structures of the body to control the movement.

HANDS CONNECT.
THE CORE CONTROLS.

Why the Core?

The core and trunk provide a large, stable platform from which the shoulders and arms can move.

Compared with the highly mobile joints of the hands and wrists, the larger proximal structures of the body are capable of producing controlled movement with less opportunity for small, independent hand actions to influence the putter face.

The ArkRoll method therefore encourages a change in the way the stroke is perceived:

Hands → wrists → putter

becomes

Core → shoulders → arms → putter

The goal is not to remove the hands from the putter.

It is to remove unnecessary hand manipulation from the stroke.

The 71.1 MM Reference

One of the defining dimensions of the original BioMech geometry is 71.1 mm.

Importantly, this is not the depth of the putter head.

It is the horizontal distance between the vertical projection of the end of the grip and the putter face in the original reference geometry.

It represents part of the geometric relationship between the golfer’s hands and the face they are controlling.

71.1 mm is a reference — not a prescription.

ArkRoll will be available in different lengths while maintaining the same underlying lie geometry.

As putter length changes, the position of the grip changes and therefore the face-to-grip distance changes too.

The number changes. The underlying biomechanical principle does not.

From Biomech to Arkroll

BioMech established the fundamental relationship between:

Human body → arms → hands → shaft → face

ArkRoll retains this biomechanical foundation and takes the concept further by giving the head itself greater freedom to evolve.

Different golfers can choose different lengths.

Different golfers can choose different head designs.

Different head depths can be developed around the same fundamental shaft/body/face relationship.

This allows head depth to become a design and performance variable rather than something that dictates the golfer’s fundamental geometry.

Head Depth & Forgiveness

Head depth is not, by itself, a measure of forgiveness.

What matters is how the available volume is used to distribute mass.

A deeper head can provide greater scope to position mass away from the centre of the head, potentially increasing MOI — moment of inertia — and therefore resistance to twisting on off-centre strikes.

ArkRoll therefore treats head depth as an opportunity to explore the relationship between:

Head depth → mass distribution → CG → MOI → stability

The golfer can choose the head that appeals to their eye and preference, while the engineering team can use its geometry to create different performance characteristics.

The Arkroll System

01 — HUMAN GEOMETRY

Start with the natural relationship of the golfer’s body.

02 — REAR-MOUNTED SHAFT

Position the shaft around that natural geometry rather than conventional putter architecture.

03 — REDUCE HAND MANIPULATION

Encourage the golfer to quieten the hands and wrists.

04 — USE THE CORE

Allow the larger, more stable structures of the body to control the movement.

05 — ENGINEER THE HEAD

Develop different head depths, shapes and mass distributions around the underlying biomechanical architecture.

06 — FIT THE LENGTH

Allow the golfer to choose their preferred putter length without abandoning the fundamental geometry.

THE ARKROLL PHILOSOPHY

BioMech engineered the putter from the human body out.

ArkRoll continues that philosophy.

We believe the hands should connect the golfer to the putter, not dictate the movement of the putter face.

By combining a biomechanical geometry derived from the natural position of the human body with a method that encourages core-led movement, ArkRoll is designed to reduce unnecessary hand manipulation and create a more stable, repeatable relationship with the face.

The head can change.

The length can change.

The golfer can change.

The underlying principle remains.

The body establishes the geometry.

The core controls the stroke.

The golfer chooses the putter.

ARKROLL — ENGINEERED FROM THE BODY OUT.
